Aligment Between The Sickle Moon, The Galactic Center and Mount Etna Above Lake Biviere di Cesarò

A year passed before the ideal conditions for making this image came up again. Yes, because this is not a simple image of the Milky Way or the Moon. This is an image that can only be made once during the year. It is a magical moment, not well known among astrophotography enthusiasts when it is possible to photograph the Moon in alignment with the galactic center!!! But let's go into more detail.
In order to be able to capture the Moon, without it dazzling the rest of the sky, it needs to be a narrow lunar sickle. A narrow waning lunar sickle rises only at the end of the astronomical night and is clearly low on the horizon. To be able to have the Milky Way in this position at the same time, one must wait for the instant when it begins to rise near the end of astronomical night.
The two conditions occur on average between late January and mid-February. ...And what place is better suited to host this celestial spectacle than what, in my opinion, is the most beautiful landscape in Sicily? We are talking about Lake Biviere of Cesarò. A lake that lies about 1,200 meters above sea level among the Nebrodi mountains that surround it. In its waters grow small islands of lacustrine reeds above which the volcano Etna seems to rise. The image is soon composed: the moon rising over the top of the volcano, its grazing light illuminating, without dazzling, the reed islets, the placid lake perfectly reflecting stars and nebulae of the Milky Way, and, of course, the most beautiful starry sky in Sicily.
