I waited patiently for more than a year for the ideal conditions to take this shot to arise.
I wanted to try to capture an almost unprecedented glimpse of Ortigia having as its point of interest the church of the Holy Spirit with its dome and its facade. The wait is linked to the desire to be able to align the Moon and at the same time have an angle that clearly shows both architectural elements of the church. So much patience was rewarded by a truly unique sky which, thanks to its veiling, made the rise of our satellite very dramatic. The colors of the sky have become tinged with the red of the Moon which also shows elements of optical refraction which alter its lower profile. The scene is further embellished by the detail of the Alfeo seafront and the tricolor flag reflected on the sea below.
