Il faro di Rasocolmo non è stata la mia unica meta nel nord della Sicilia. Dopo aver catturato il sottile falcetto lunare mentre tramontava accanto alla lanterna illuminata, mi sono diretto verso la spiaggia di Piano Torre, proprio ai piedi del promontorio che ospita il faro.
La mia destinazione era un gruppo di scogli affioranti, contro cui si infrangevano le onde ancora cariche dell’energia residua della recente mareggiata. Raggiungere il punto di ripresa non è stato semplice: ho attraversato con fatica una distesa di ciottoli di ogni dimensione, accomunati però da una sorprendente brillantezza.
Quelle rocce mostravano venature sinuose, disegni circolari e striature che sembravano opera di un artista invisibile. Levigate dal mare in forme ovali, custodivano al loro interno frammenti di mica, un minerale capace di riflettere la luce con bagliori improvvisi.
Così, il cammino verso il punto da cui avrei fotografato la Via Lattea e Giove tramontare sul mare si è trasformato in un percorso tra lo scintillio delle pietre e il fragore profondo delle onde che si infrangevano sugli scogli.

The Rasocolmo lighthouse was not my only destination in northern Sicily. After capturing the slender crescent moon as it set next to the illuminated lantern, I headed towards Piano Torre beach, right at the foot of the promontory that houses the lighthouse.
My destination was a group of rocky outcrops, against which the waves were still breaking, charged with the residual energy of the recent storm. Reaching the shooting location was not easy: I struggled across a stretch of pebbles of all sizes, but all sharing a surprising brilliance.
Those rocks displayed sinuous veins, circular patterns and streaks that looked like the work of an invisible artist. Smoothed by the sea into oval shapes, they contained fragments of mica, a mineral capable of reflecting light with sudden flashes.
