Si dice che i tramonti sulle isole Eolie siano tra i più belli della Sicilia, ma quando alla luce degli ultimi bagliori solari si sommano il turchese intenso del cielo e la "banda verde", la ricchezza di sfumature raggiunge livelli di bellezza incomparabili.
A rendere questa immagine ancora più straordinaria, il 7 giugno, è stato l'avvicinamento prospettico dei pianeti Giove e Venere alle stelle Castore e Polluce, nella costellazione dei Gemelli. Un allineamento impreziosito anche da Mercurio, che brillava tra le nuvole, basso sull'orizzonte. Proprio le nubi hanno contribuito a rendere la scena più drammatica, mentre le velature in quota hanno dato vita a due piccole corone colorate attorno a Venere e Giove.
Ultimo tocco di magia è la presenza della banda verde, una delicata fascia che si intravede al confine tra i bagliori arancioni e il blu del cielo crepuscolare. Sullo sfondo, in basso sull'orizzonte, le isole Eolie fanno da silenti spettatrici a questo straordinario spettacolo della natura.

What made this image even more extraordinary on 7 June was the apparent approach of the planets Jupiter and Venus to the stars Castor and Pollux in the constellation of Gemini. This alignment was further enhanced by Mercury, which shone through the clouds, low on the horizon. It was the clouds themselves that helped to make the scene more dramatic, whilst the high-altitude cirrus clouds created two small coloured halos around Venus and Jupiter.
The final touch of magic is the presence of the green band, a delicate strip visible at the boundary between the orange glow and the blue of the twilight sky. In the background, low on the horizon, the Aeolian Islands stand as silent spectators to this extraordinary
