Meraviglioso è lo spettacolo della natura che ci offre il nostro amato vulcano. In questa fredda serata tra il 16 e il 17 dicembre ho potuto assistere al tramonto del pianeta Marte sul fianco del cratere di sud est dove recentemente si è aperta una frattura attiva con fuoriuscita di gas e lava incandescente. Poco a sinistra, dalla sommità del cratere venivano emessi dei vapori frutto di degasamento che per inversione termica si disponevano sopra la colata lavica colorandosi di rosso. Grande è stato lo stupore nel vedere una bellissima meteora dello sciame delle Geminidi attraversare il cielo per poi scomaprire dietro il vulcano.
Wonderful is the spectacle of nature that our beloved volcano offers us. On this cold evening between 16 and 17 December I was able to witness the sunset of the planet Mars on the side of the southeast crater where an active fracture has recently opened with gas and incandescent lava escaping. A little to the left, vapors resulting from degassing were emitted from the top of the crater which, due to thermal inversion, were arranged above the lava flow, turning red. Great was the amazement in seeing a beautiful meteor of the Geminids shower cross the sky and then disappear behind the volcano
