La prima Luna a falcetto tramonta sulla basilica di San Giuliano di Caltagirone, città facente parte del Val di Noto insignito del riconoscimento di "sito patrimonio dell'umanità" da parte dell’Unesco per l'unicità del suo stile architettonico ovvero il barocco siciliano. La chiesa ha origini tardo medievali ma è stata oggetto di significativi interventi di ripristino a causa dei terremoti che hanno devastato la Sicilia orientale con particolar riferimento a quello avvenuto nel 1693. Inserita nel contesto del centro storico, la chiesa si eleva in tutta la sua bellezza grazie al campanile alto 48 mt e la cupola rivestita di maioliche per le quali la città di Caltagirone è famosa. È stato emozionante assistere al tramonto della Luna sull'abitato cittadino seguendola nella sua lenta discesa finché non si è quasi magicamente incastrata perfettamente tra i due elementi architettonici. Sulla destra invece spicca il campanile della chiesa del Gesù.

The first earthshine moon sets on the basilica of San Giuliano in Caltagirone, a city belonging to the Val di Noto recognized as a "world heritage site" by UNESCO for the uniqueness of its architectural style, namely the Sicilian Baroque. The church has late medieval origins but was the subject of significant restoration work due to the earthquakes that devastated eastern Sicily with particular reference to the one that occurred in 1693. Inserted in the context of the historic centre, the church stands out in all its beauty thanks to the 48 m high bell tower and the dome covered in majolica for which the city of Caltagirone is famous. It was exciting to watch the moon set over the town following it in its slow descent until it almost magically fit perfectly between the two architectural elements. On the right, the bell tower of the church of Gesù stands out.
