C'è un'emozione profonda nel vedere la Via Lattea distendersi sopra l'Etna, immortalata nel cielo limpido e buio dei monti Nebrodi. Ogni dettaglio del cosmo emerge con straordinaria ricchezza: dalle nebulose oscure a quelle a emissione, fino agli ammassi che brillano nella zona di massimo addensamento stellare. Là sotto, il vulcano assiste come un testimone silenzioso. Silenzioso, ma mai del tutto quieto, tradito da quella nube di gas e polveri che si leva dai crateri sommitali, lasciandosi cullare dal vento verso ovest.

There is a profound sense of wonder in seeing the Milky Way stretch out above Mount Etna, captured against the clear, dark sky of the Nebrodi Mountains. Every detail of the cosmos emerges with extraordinary richness: from dark nebulae to emission nebulae, right through to the clusters that shine in the region of greatest stellar density. Below, the volcano stands as a silent witness. Silent, yet never entirely still, betrayed by that cloud of gas and dust rising from the summit craters, drifting westwards on the wind.
