Gems of the Winter Sky on the Slopes of Etna

Just as precious gems reflect the light that passes through them, returning it to us in shades of iridescent colors, so do the stars of the winter sky glow with sidereal energy on the slopes of Etna volcano. Tenuous as they are, their colors are easily distinguishable: fiery orange for Aldebaran main star of the constellation Taurus, ice blue for the seven sisters of the Pleiades, and diamond white for Jupiter, which although not a star shines with the light of our Sun.
But these are not the only visible stars nor the only colors in this wonderful sky. The winter Milky Way appears composed of endless points of light flowing in a calm stellar river. It appears to dive over our beloved volcano from the top of which emerges a magenta nebula that makes a beautiful display surrounding the star Meissa, the head of the constellation Orion.
