About This Project

Some passions are born with us, rooted in our childhood. Photography and astronomy have always guided my path—beginning as a quiet curiosity and evolving into a profound life purpose when, in 2014, I acquired my first digital camera. From that moment, I set out to photograph the world under the enchanting glow of the night sky. The more images I created, the more I realized that my lens could become a powerful voice: a way to convey my deep love for my homeland in a completely new light. Step by step, I began exploring the most iconic landscapes and historic sites of Sicily. Each photograph became a portal revealing the rich heritage of an island that, positioned at the heart of the Mediterranean, served as the cradle for countless ancient civilizations. In Sicily, more than anywhere else, the threads of history are deeply woven together: Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Arab, and Norman cultures seamlessly integrated over centuries. French and Spanish histories intersected here before merging into the grand tapestry of Italy—the land of "Great Beauty". Today, while I am proud to be Italian, I know that my DNA carries traces of distant worlds and cultures. To be Sicilian is to feel connected to a single, global family: the people of the world. I have come to realize that this cultural and natural wealth is elevated even further when viewed through the dreamy, ethereal light of the night. Who among us has not dreamed of gazing up and traveling toward the stars? Through the art of nightscape astrophotography—the Dreamscapes of Sicily—dreams become the vehicle for this journey. I invite everyone to dream alongside me through these images and the stories behind them. For a photograph is not truly complete unless it tells a story. Only then can you step into the scene and feel as though you are standing right beside me in the timeless landscapes of Sicily: smelling the crisp scents of fresh spring grass, feeling the chilly breeze under a crystalline winter sky, or listening to the rhythm of sea waves while inhaling the salty breeze under the rising arch of the summer Milky Way. You might find yourself immersed in the warm, fiery colors of autumn in the Mt. Etna woodlands—illuminated simultaneously by moonlight and volcanic lava beneath a deep turquoise sky. Or you might travel through time, standing under the dark sky of Segesta to imagine ancient life around its majestic Doric temple, or witnessing the mystical mood of the Pantalica valley as glowing fires illuminate cliffside tombs carved into the rock. The pristine night sky is a fragile and precious resource that we must cherish and protect. Through its beauty, we reconnect with our ability to dream and appreciate the profound history of our land—and ultimately, of our shared planet. One people under one sky.
