The sunset on February 7th was one of the most beautiful sunsets to be witnessed, not only for the magnificent shades of colors that lit the sky but also for the different scientific phenomena that occurred simultaneously. The sun, that had just set, continued to illuminate a portion of the sky creating a pink band known as the Belt of Venus. The sun's rays could not illuminate the lowest layer near the horizon whose color turned blue. This coloring is therefore due to the shadow of the earth which begins to project itself onto the atmospheric haze. Furthermore, lenticular clouds have formed in the sky due to the interaction of the winds at high altitude with the warm and humid air that came up from below. Lastly, the top of Etna shone with pink according to the phenomenon known by the name of alpenglow.

Il tramonto di giorno 7 febbraio è stato uno dei tramonti più belli a cui si possa assistere, non soltanto per le magnifiche sfumature di colori di cui si è illuminato il cielo ma anche per i diversi fenomeni scientifici che sono avvenuti contemporaneamente. Il sole, che era appena tramontato, continuava ad illuminare una porzione alta di cielo creando una fascia di colore rosa nota con il nome di Cintura di Venere. I raggi solari comunque non riuscivano ad illuminare lo strato più basso vicino all'orizzonte il cui colore virava verso il blu. Questa colorazione è dovuta quindi all'ombra della terra che inizia a proiettarsi sulla coltre atmosferica. Inoltre nel cielo si sono formate delle nuvole lenticolari dovute all'interazione dei venti in quota con l'aria calda ed umida che risaliva dal basso. Per ultimo, la cima dell'Etna brillava di rosa in accordo al fenomeno noto con il nome di enrosadira.
